Forest habitants

Helsinki, 7 degrees

Fall is such an interesting time at work: almost on a daily basis we're talking about new campaigns and events.  Right now it seems that both events and food will be highly visible next year in Helsinki's marketing. Today we had an interesting coverage of the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 program, launched yesterday at the press release event. On Helsinki's behaf the focus is on tourism, how excellent! Finally the whole city is busy like a bee to increase tourism and improve visitors' stay in the city.

The main scene for the design theme year will be the temporary pavilion built in the spring in an empty lot between the Design Museum and the Museum of Finnish Architecture, opened in May 2012.

The pavilion will be a WDC Helsinki 2012 hub and meeting place for the general public, the media and visiting international experts during the summer months of 2012. The pavilion will also house a café and a small shop. It will be open for the public so that everybody can visit it, whenever. The idea behind the pavilion is the create a peaceful forest like place in central Helsinki.

The pavilion will open after the 10th of May, 2012. It will be a venue for diverse programmes – such as workshops, presentations by top international and domestic speakers, comments on the our other programme, daytime dances, film screenings, design flee markets and picnic events.

How nice is this?

What's your opinion?
