Streat Helsinki 2015

Helsinki, 5 degrees

New streets should be Twitter friendly and be named with hashtags up front. I’d build a house on ‪#‎LoversLane‬.

As I promised you, here follows the blog post about the street food festival Streat Helsinki, for which I organized and carried out thanks to my work a media trip with 11 media representatives from six countries: Sweden, Russia, Estonia, UK, South Korea and Canada. This media trip occurred during March 20-22. Finnair and Visit Finland were our partners in this media trip. The wonderful Finnish food blog Tiskivuoren Emäntä co-hosted the trip with me, thank you so much for your help and the beautiful photos of this blog post! You might remember the festival from last year when I hosted a similar media trip. If not, you'll find the blog post about it here.

So what made Streat Helsinki 2015 more special than the one back in 2014? The answers are three:

Mikä teki tämän vuoden katuruokafestivaalista paremman kuin edeltäjänsä? Tässä kolme syytä:

*Streat Helsinki SUBURBS, a completely new part of the festival. This part introduced a pre-tour of the festival itself. The tour headed out of the city center and into the suburbs to show just how enjoyable street food can be. On four consecutive Saturdays, suburban squares and streets got a taste of the food that is too often limited to central parts of Helsinki.

*Streat Helsinki SUBURBS, täysin uusi osa festivaalia.

*Streat Helsinki WORKSHOPS, a completely new part as well of the festival. I attended the workshop named "What’s hot next: The future of street food as told by La Cocina and San Francisco Street Food Festival". San Francisco, being the hot bed and melting pot of all things delicious was the excellent choice to tell what’s happening in the street food scene in the world and what’s new and what trends can we expect to reach us soon up here in the North. The speaker was Geetika Agrawal from La Cocina.

*Streat Helsinki WORKSHOPS, myös täysin uusi osa festivaalia. Osallistuin itse työpajaan, joka kertoi katuruoan kodista, josta uudet trendit ja ideat lähtevät maailmalle – San Franciscosta. Työpajassa kurkistettiin katuruoan tulevaisuuteen paikallisten vaikuttajien voimin ja kuultiin mitä trendejä voidaan odottaa Suomeen saapuviksi. Erikoisvieraana Friscosta oli La Cocinan Geetika Agrawal ja illan juontajana toimi ruokatoimittaja Kenneth Nars.

*Streat Helsinki EATS, bigger and better than the year before! The street food festival Streat Helsinki culminated in a two-day street food event in Helsinki’s historical center, also known as the Tori Quarters. This year there was more space, longer opening hours and a wider selection of food entrepreneurs and delicious dishes!

*Streat Helsinki EATS, isompana ja parempana kuin viime vuonna! Streat Helsinki huipentui kaksipäiväiseen katuruokariehaan Helsingin Torikortteleissa. Viime vuonna suosiollaan yllättänyt Streat Helsinki EATS tarjosi tänä vuonna enemmän tilaa, enemmän tunteja ja mikä parasta – enemmän ruokayrittäjiä ja herkullisia annoksia!

Besides Streat Helsinki being awesome, we also attended Heather's Helsinki - Fork in Hand food tour and visited the brand new Helsinki Coffee Festival - a delicious tour and a splendid event!

Streat Helsingin lisäksi tutustuimme Heather's Helsingin Fork in Hand -ruokakierrokseen ja ensimmäiseen Helsinki Coffee Festivaaliin - maukas kierros ja loistava tapahtuma!

1 city - 3 days - 11 media representatives - endless gastronomic memories!

1 kaupunki - 3 päivää - 11 median edustajaa - loputon määrä ruokamuistoja!
