To be pregnant is to be vitally alive, thoroughly woman, and distressingly inhabited. Soul and spirit are stretched – along with body – making pregnancy a time of transition, growth, and profound beginnings.
As I'm reaching pregnancy week 32 this week, in my third trimester that is, I thought that it would be fun to share with you some of my favorite Nordic pregnancy outfits, from Finnish brands Kaiko, Vimma, and Swedish brand Gina Tricot. What I learned from when I was pregnant with my daughter, is that there is a lot of maternity wear out there, but there is only a handful of pregnancy clothes that you really need. I will introduce the maternity essentials that I have got during both pregnancies later on. The best is, however, versatile and flowy dresses that fit both normally and during your pregnancy, long-term items that are. Naturally, you won't fit into all your clothes while pregnant, but I've been happy to notice how practical my dress-based wardrobe is in this wonderful period of life!
Tällä viikolla minulla alkaa raskausviikko 32, joten ajattelin jakaa blogissa joitakin suosikkiraskausasukokonaisuuksiani. Nämä ovat kotimaisilta Kaikolta, Vimmalta ja ruotsalaiselta Gina Tricot -merkiltä. Opin ensimmäiseltä raskausajalta sen, ettei odottava äiti tarvitse paljonkaan uusia raskausvaatteita. Äitiys- ja mama-vaatteita löytyy toki paljon, mutta voi melkein yhdellä kädellä laskea ne vaatteet, joita oikeasti tarvitsee ostaa uutena tai käytettynä raskauden aikana. Esittelen myöhemmin blogin puolella tarpeellisimmat äitiysvaatteet. Itse koen kuitenkin, että parhaat raskausajan vaatteet ovat monipuoliset ja ilmavat / väljät mekot - jotka löytyvät jo muutenkin ainakin omasta vaatekaapistani. Nämä ovat pitkäaikaishankintoja, jotka pysyvät aina muodissa. Luonnollisesti raskaus tuo mukanaan omia haasteita koska kaikkiin vaatteisiin ei yksinkertaisesti mahdu, mutta olen ollut iloinen huomatessani miten käytännöllinen mekko -pohjainen vaatekaappini todellakin on - myös tässä ihanassa elämänvaiheessa!
Kaiko
I don't remember how long that I've been drooling over this Bambi pattern, but recently I decided to finally do something about it - maybe because I noticed that Kaiko had dresses in this pattern for mothers as well. Otherwise, I would have been so envious of my little ones. So when it comes to this pattern, my daughter also has a dress with the pattern (and as you can see, she's lately wanted to try out how it feels to be expecting in the dress, haha) and I have already bought a bodysuit for the little one on the way - with the same pattern. I playfully even asked my hubby if he would wear the pattern, but as his answer was no, I have to settle with the three of us dressing in the same pattern, when the time comes. I love love love how soft this material is, it feels so good on my pregnant belly!
En millään edes muista kuinka kauan olen ihaillut tätä kuosia, mutta hiljattain päätin, että tekisin jotain asialle ja hankin meidän perheelle Bambi -asuja! Nyt olin iloisesti yllättynyt koska löysin mekon myös itselleni, jostain syystä olen aikaisemmin nähnyt kuosia vain lasten päällä. Olin iloinen siitä, että löysin Bambi -kuosisen mekon itselleni koska muuten minulle olisi varmasti tullut vaatekateus! Joten nyt minulla ja tytölläni on Bambi -mekot (ja kuten huomaat, tyttäreni on jo halunnut kokeilla miltä tuntuu olla raskaana mekko päällä, haha), ja pienelle tulokkaalle löytyy jo valmiina odottamassa Bambi -body. Kysyin kyllä leikkimielisesti mieheltänikin, että haluaisiko hän Bambi -paidan, mutta kun sain kieltävän vastauksen, sain tyytyä siihen, että perheestämme löytyy kohta kolme bambia. Rakastan tämän mekon pehmeätä materiaalia, raskausvatsa kiittää siitä kovasti!
This dress was an intentional risk, I have to start by saying that. The main reason being that I didn't know how a smock dress would feel when pregnant. However, I was happily surprised and I love it because it's soft, has a dreamy color - lavender - and airy puff sleeves!
Vimma is on the list - again! This is for sure one of my favorite local brands, and when I found its famous Letti (braid in Finnish) patterned dress in this model named Tuuva - I didn't hesitate! This model got its inspiration from Copenhagen's street fashion, and it's extremely comfortable! I love its flowy ruffles, length, and obviously the pattern! The Tuuva dress is also a breastfeeding model favored by mothers. It works as a maxi dress in summer, but with boots and jeans in winter! My daughter also has a Letti dress, and the little one on the way will have a Letti jumpsuit!
Vimma on listalla - taas! Kööpenhaminan katumuodista inspiraationsa saanut kaunis ja käytännöllinen Tuuva -mallinen lettimekko oli itselleni pakko-ostos! Laskeutuvan materiaalin ansiosta röyhelöhihat ja rypytetty helma luovat mekkoon kerroksellisuutta. Tuuva -mekko on myös imetysmekkona äitien suosima malli. Ilmava mekko on helppo pukea kaikenlaisiin tilanteisiin. Maihareiden ja farkkujen kanssa talvella toimiva, kesällä biitsille ja kesäjuhliin sopiva asu. Tyttärelläni on myös mustavalkoinen Letti -mekko ja tulevalla vauvalla on Letti -haalari/jumpsuit jo odottamassa!
