5 drop-dead gorgeous blue ideas for a Nordic home

Helsinki, 4 degrees

Blue is the color of peace.

In the midst of a beautiful winter day (note warm as we have 4 degrees when we usually would have at least -10 during this time of the year), I sit and daydream about how to add some classic blue (Pantone's Color of the Year) to our home this upcoming spring. Here are some of my favorite ways of adding some blue to your Nordic style, bohemian minimalistic, home. What's best? These will be super easy to maybe already find at home, or buy second hand because blue is a timeless color!

Talven keskellä on aina silloin tällöin hyvä pysähtyä voidakseen nähdä päiväunia keväästä.

Ceramics & glass / Keramiikka & lasi

As I've been searching for classic blue inspiration, I've noticed that many blue items are made in ceramics and/or glass. I, therefore, believe that we will see an increasing amount of both in homes this year. They were both present already last year during our interior design fair, and I remember falling for them then when I saw them. The sea & light function as the main sources of inspiration for these items.

Also when it comes to scented candles in the shade of blue, they see to bring scents of the sea and distant shores to the home. It was interesting to notice, however, that candles with the scent of figs were also available in blue.

Wall art / Taide

Wall art & prints are a fun and easy way to add color at home. I already mentioned that glass art will increase. Furthermore, I especially like how this season one sees the mix of pink and blue! Also, I noticed a lot of wall art portraying mountains and sea-theme, so I think that they will be visible in homes this year.

Poufs / Rahit

Poufs have been increasingly popular during the last couple of years, and I don't see this interior trend stopping anytime soon.

Greenery and flowers continue to inspire! Flowers can now be seen also on the walls! Wooden items continue to be popular, but now even they get a blue shade.

How do you add color to your home? What colors will you introduce to your home this upcoming spring?

Miten lisäät väriä kotiisi? Mitä värejä aiot tuoda kotiin tulevana keväänä?

What's your opinion?

  1. Sininen on kyllä klassinen ja kaunis väri. Meillä löytyy sinistä lautasista, mutta muuten en koe henk koht tarpeelliseksi lisätä väriä kotiin. :)
