The Nordic summer sale find that you can wear through fall: moody florals Marimekko Kintereillä Iso Vikuri dress

The last part of my holiday and the first weeks back at work have all been about getting my wardrobe autumn-ready! This because of the great summer sales that we experience mainly in July. This late summer I only picked up a handful of new items, because I like to think of myself as a conscious shopper that only does long-term shopping. I also strive to buy as much as possible second hand. This time of year, I also sell off the items that I no longer use. In July, my best summer sale find was this floral Marimekko dress!

Käytin viimeisiä lomapäiviäni ja ensimmäiset työpäiväni syysvaatekaapin päivitykseen! Tämä on ollut tapani jo vuosia koska heinäkuun aleet ovat niin hyviä. Hankin kuitenkin vain joitakin uusi vaatteita, koska pyrin tekemään pitkäaikaisia ja ajattomia ostoksia. Ostan myös suurimman osan vaatteistani käytettyinä, ja myyn tarpeettomat vaatteeni pois syksyn tullen. Heinäkuun paras alelöytö oli ehdottomasti tämä kukallinen Marimekko!

Already in July, among others, both Marie Claire and Harper's Bazaar wrote about the upcoming fall trends. Both mentioned florals, and I think this Marimekko dress is the perfect fall floral dress (even though I find it timeless at the same time)! Harper's Bazaar calls the trend "Dark romance" and mentions that this autumn, dark florals are found on modern ladylike shapes. Marie Claire, on the other hand, calls the same trend "moody florals". According to the magazine, you can now retire your yellow daisy printed tops in favor of darker, moodier florals for fall/winter. As seen at high fashion shows like Paco Rabanne, Prada, and Marc Jacobs' fall '19 runway shows, rich floral hues decorated dresses, tops, and skirts, proving that florals are more alive than ever for the autumn season! Jo heinäkuussa muun muassa sekä Marie Claire että Harper's Bazaar esittelivät syksyn muotitrendejä. Molemmat mainitsivat kukkakuosin olevan yksi tulevan syksyn trendeistä. Mielestäni tämä Marimekko edustaa hyvin tätä trendiä vaikka mekko on myös samalla ajaton. Harper's Bazaar kutsuu trendiä tummaksi romanssiksi. Marie Claire sen sijaan kutsuu sitä ailahtelevaksi kukkakuosiksi. Muun muassa Pradan ja Marc Jacobsin syksyn muotinäytöksissä nähtiin tämä trendi. Kukkakuosi on näkynyt blogini puolella myös näissä aikaisemmissa kirjoituksissa.

Finnish Marimekko's Kintereillä dress is made of firm cotton twill and decorated with the black, white and green floral Iso Vikuri pattern. It has a metallic zipper with a ring puller at the neckline, chest patch pockets with snap buttons and short sleeves with wide turn-ups at the sleeve ends. I even think it looks somewhat like an overall / boiler suit. I love how firm it is, I even call it my Nordic armor dress!

Erja Hirven suunnittelema Iso Vikuri -kuosi ja työvaatteista lainatut yksityiskohdat antavat persoonallisen ilmeen Marimekon Kintereillä -mekolle, joka on ryhdikästä puuvillatvilliä. Mekossa on kannelliset rintataskut painonapeilla, lyhyet hihat leveillä käänteillä ja pääntiellä metallivetoketju, jossa on rengasvedin. Vyötäröllä on kuminauhapoimutus ja sivusaumoissa taskut. Takana on lisäksi yksi avoin tasku, joka roikkuu vyötärösaumasta ja jossa on somisteena metallinen D-lenkki. Mielestäni juuri työvaatteista lainatut yksityiskohdat saavat mekon muistuttamaan haalaria. Pidän kovasti sen ryhdikkyydestä, ja kutsun mekkoa panssarimekokseni!
