Dinner in the Sky

Helsinki, 25 degrees

There are no facts, only interpretations.

During the last two weeks, I've seen Helsinki from an unusual perspective - the sky! It all started about two weeks ago when I got to try, for the second time in my life, to enjoy lunch 50 meters above ground at the annual food event Dinner in the Sky! I headed to the press lunch of the food event, and noticed very quickly that one of my friends - Hanna from Finnish food blog Hannan Soppa - was there as well - how nice of a surprise was that?! So of course I asked to be seated next to her as we literally went up to the skies for lunch!

Viimeisten kahden viikon ajan olen saanut nauttia Helsingistä epätavallisesta paikasta - nimittäin ilmasta! Kaikki alkoi noin kaksi viikkoa sitten kun kävin toistamiseen vuosittaisessa Dinner in the Sky - ruokatapahtumassa Helsingin Rautatientorilla.

In total we were 22 guests, two waiters and one chef and assistant up in the air - all safely secured to the table that was lifted up by crain to 50 meters.  One of the reasons I wanted to enjoy my second lunch in the sky, was actually the Italian (Tuscan) Michelin star chef Silvia Baracchi from the restaurant Il Falconiere. What an honor! So Dinner in the Sky is a combination of stunning views and an incredible food experience. However, having said this, I personally wouldn't want to do it anywhere else than in Helsinki as my love for the city is the biggest reason why I enjoy this food experience! I wish I could have had the chance to talk to Silvia, but this time she was very focused on preparing the food and laying out the dishes. All the food was really delicious, I can only dream to visit her restaurant one day in Italy!

As before, I noticed that the way up and down is easy, as it's so smooth. One doesn't really notice that one is on his/her way up before one is already above the buildings in downtown Helsinki! Helsinki is a beautiful city from above, as I think you can see from this blog post! Heaven!

Helsinki on uskomattoman kaunis yläilmoista, joten suosittelen taivaallista kokemusta ihan jokaiselle!

Have you combined eating to another sultry experience, for instance darkness, height? Would you dare to give it a try?

Oletko yhdistänyt ruokailun toiseen aistilliseen kokemukseen, esimerkiksi pimeyteen tai korkeuteen? Uskaltaisitko?

What's your opinion?
