Where words leave off, music begins.

I know it's been a week since the grand final, but I couldn't go without sharing my favorites from this year's Eurovision Song Contest with you! I'm still listening to my favorites, and will continue to do so throughout this summer! As I've told you before in previous blog posts, for instance here and here, it's an annual tradition in my family to watch this song contest together, I have been raised that way, so for me it's a huge and happy event that I look forward to every spring! Back in 2007 when we hosted the event here in Helsinki I even worked as a volunteer to get a close look at what happens behind the scenes during the event, and let me tell you - what a show! Here are my favorite acts from this year's contest.

Vaikka finaalista on jo viikko, halusin jakaa euroviisusuosikkini blogissa.

The best Nordic acts - Pohjoismaiset suosikit

Sweden: Måns Zelmerlöw - Heroes

Norway: Mørland & Debrah Scarlett - A monster like me

Other favorites - Muut suosikit

Belgium: Loic Nottet - Rhythm inside

Russia: Polina Gagarina - A million voices

Italy: Il volo - Grande amore

Israel: Nadav Guedj - Golden boy

Which act was your favorite? Do you listen to the songs even after the contest?

Mikä oli sinun suosikkikappaleesi? Kuunteletko euroviisubiisejä myös laulukilpailun jälkeen?

What's your opinion?

  1. I really liked Belgium and Israel songs and performances, and Italy as well! I think Sweden was really great and creative with the digital effects and I somehow liked Austria and Germany songs and they were soooo badly accepted - I mean, no accepted at all by the viewers :) I love this contest, too, I always look forward to it!

  2. Being American, we don't really have Eurovision here obviously, but I liked Italy and Russia's ones. My fav of the two was Polina Gagarina, she is gorgeous as well.

  3. It is so great that you watch it every year! What a fun tradition. I always hear so much about it - and often I like a lot of the acts involved. I confess, I haven't kept up with it this year. But I will have to catch up! Thanks for sharing these songs :)

  5. I'm crazy about the Latvian song Love Injected by Aminata. it's such a powerful song and perfect for listening to in the car with some good base. and of course I liked our Estonian song Goodbye to Yesterday. but that's pretty much it. other songs didn't quite approach me this time. and it's a bit sad that there's so much bad talk around the winner this time. some of it (like using someone else's idea without permission when it comes to the graphics) is true though and that's even sadder.

    1. I thought it sounded a lot like Loreen's song from a couple of years ago, but yes, it was beautiful! Yes, I agree that the discussion about the winner was terrible this year, but as you said, justified.
