In my suitcase: Stockholm, Sweden

Helsinki, 25 degrees

All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking.

When we Swedish speaking Finns travel to Stockholm, we're not like the ordinary travelers I would say. This because we are not interested in the common sights, because we've seen those already as children, but are more like kindred spirits. I went to Stockholm for the first time as a little child, so for years I haven't used a map in the city. It feels very familiar, even though I find something new in the city each time I visit it. It's nice to speak my mother tongue everywhere, it feels so different from the reality in Finland where hardly anyone anymore is fluent in Swedish (except us Swedish speaking Finns that is). I also find that it's very easy for me to travel to Sweden as all of the Nordic people share a common mentality. We have the same set of habits in a sense. I usually head to Stockholm in the fall or winter, so it was nice to visit in summertime. Me and my boy spent three wonderful days in the Swedish capital. We flew to Stockholm with Norwegian. These photos will take you on our 10 km walk that we did the first day! It included a tasty Swedish coffee and bun (fika as they call it in Sweden), a lovely walk on Drottningsgatan (the biggest shopping street in town), yummy refreshments at the Kungsträdgården Garden, a beautiful walk through Old Town and a delicious seafood lunch at Södermalm.

Lensimme Tukholmaan Norwegianilla. Nämä kuvat ovat tulopäivämme 10 km:n kävelyltämme.

Places we visited in these photos // Vierailukohteet näissä kuvissa:

Muffin Bakery - Norrmalm
Melanders Fisk - Södermalm

It was nice to visit the city in the middle of the week. It enabled us to join a local summery event I've dreamed of joining all my life - can you guess which one?

Ti-to matka mahdollisti osallistumisen yhteen Tukholman kesäisiin päätapahtumiin - arvaatko mihin?

  4. I like this sporty ensemble you're wearing here. definitely a good variant when you're going to walk 10 km ;) and Stockholm.. I have been there a couple of times or so but it was a long time ago so my memories are quite distant. I miss travelling overall by the way. especially when reading others' travel posts, hehe. oh and my outfit where I'm wearing Uhana Design's earrings is up in my blog now! :)
