Floral dress

Helsinki, 18 degrees

Uncertainty and mystery are energies of life. Don't let them scare you unduly, for they keep boredom at bay and spark creativity.

After three days at school talking about business strategies within tourism, thesis research methods and project management, it has been lovely to enjoy a Sunday of pure relax. I was awakened by rain drops hitting against our bedroom window, and I've spent most of the day admiring the ongoing change in the nature on our balcony cozying up with a cup of tea and a blanket. I found a video showcasing the stunning Finnish autumn we have ahead of us, and I thought I would share it with you readers who haven't still had the pleasure of visiting us here in the North. We live up on a hill surrounded by trees so I love watching them as their leaves swirl in the wind. Somehow I find watching nature very calming and relaxing, but at the same time incredibly inspiring. As I mentioned in an earlier blog post that you'll find here, one of the fall trends that have caught my attention the best are the autumnal floral patterns.

Talking about autumn, how much would you like me to tell you about my new studies? Are you interested in reading about what master studies in tourism comprises?

During these first autumnal days I've started to wear one of my favorite patterns: the floral one that is! I found this stunning dress at Asos and thought it looked exaxtly like me. I love its vibrant colors of orange, red and purple on the neutral black background. In these photos I've combined the floral dress with a black belt from Mango, large black earrings from H&M and some golden flat ballerina shoes that I've found at a flea market.

Do you have a favorite floral piece of clothing? How do you wear the pattern?

Fitting enough, I found a great editorial on Fashionising called Falling into the surreal: the Bride of Lake Constance. I thought it shared the same autumnal feel I've experienced today: soul, faded hues, innocence, beauty and mystery.

According to Fashionising: "If a painting hides its soul in water colours and artistic techniques, Vivienne Mok’s photography conquers time and imagination through its beautiful faded hues, its timeless appeal and a delicacy able to convey reality into the most surreal of spaces. Never the same yet always mesmerizing, Vivienne Mok‘s photo shoots build upon innocence, a natural state of beauty and the right amount of mystery."

  3. for me fall means that winter is getting closer and closer and winter is my least favourite season. well and unfortunately autumn is really short here in Estonia and the snow often comes already in October. of course I know every season has something beautiful about it but I just love summer so much more than the other ones.
now, when it comes to floral pattern/print I think I have quite many such pieces but not one specific favourite. it's too hard for me to pick favourite pieces since my wardrobe is too huge right now and I still have a lot of assorting ahead of me.
oh and of course you can write about your studies if you want to do it! :)

  8. I'm definitely looking forward to enjoying Autumn as well. I consider it as a romantic time of the year, sometimes more than Spring can be. No wonder that it's the favourite season of many painters and artists!

I like floral patterns on clothes, just like on your dress. It can be perfect for any occasion. And, of course, reading about your studies would be interesting!

Keep being inspired and take care!
