Wrist wear

Helsinki, 25 degrees

Guard well your spare moments.  They are like uncut diamonds.  Discard them and their value will never be known.  Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life.

Good workers get sick during their free time. That's a Finnish saying, and I sure do belong to that category. If I get a flu, I usually get it during the weekend, like this one. Oh well, staying in, bundled up in a blanket, gives me more time for daydreaming and planning. I don't know if you've noticed, but my blog is approaching a significant age soon, so there's much planning to do. I'll make sure to fill you in on the surprises that are about to come. Statement necklaces are a familiar sight on the Helsinkian streets, but lately I've noticed that I've been focusing on wrists more than necks. Like Lauren Conrad herself says: "a woman’s wrist can tell you her style story in an instant". Inspired by a blog post by Conrad, I've put together a blog post about what I think is this fall's most exciting wrist wear.

According to Conrad's blog post, one can assume that an arm dripping in studded bangles and fringed wristlets belongs to a girl who likes to live on the edge, while a wrist daintily adorned with a sleek watch and a thin crystal band is someone who prefers to keep things simple. Do you agree? I think a girl can choose her wristwear according to her mood of the day, a little bit like her clothing. Conrad names four styles on how mix one's wrist wear: classic, feminine, edgy and mixed up. As many of you readers know, I have some silver bracelets that I always wear (if you've missed it, you can see them in this blog post) - does that make me a classic girl?

Lauren Conrad's four styles of wristwear:

Classic: Opt for clean lines and geometric shapes. Don’t be afraid to mix metals for a touch of surprise. Personally, Conrad thinks this is a nice look for the office since it isn’t too distracting.

Feminine: The more sparkle, the better! Here’s what Conrad suggests: Pair two of your favorite statement pieces together. Then add in a third piece that’s a bit more dainty and understated to keep the look grounded.

Edgy: Think studs, chains, and more studs! Mixed metals have a very subversive vibe, so mix away and don’t be afraid to add in a few leather pieces to tone it all down.

Mixed Up: If you are an eclectic gal, mix them all up! Conrad loves to do this for more casual outings. Just be sure to pile on pieces with different widths and textures.

I've created my own four style collages with bracelets from Glitter, Pieces, H&M and Accessorize.

What style speaks to you? Do you choose your wrist wear according to your clothing, or do you choose your clothing according to your jewelry?

What's your opinion?

  1. Wonderful post sweety! The selection of exquisite jewelry has me wanting to go shopping! I like the pearl and chain link pieces as well as the chunkier bracelets. Hope you feel better hun.

  6. according to my mood the most, I think. and it also depends on the season. when I have to wear long sleeves then I don't feel the need to add bracelets because they get lost under the jackets, coats, sleeves. that's why I think summer is the best time for arm parties. by the way, I even had a tiny idea to make a blog post about my bracelet collection but we'll see how it goes :)
