Floral resort

Helsinki, 21 degrees

Give me the joys of summer, of Summer Queen so fair, with the wealth of lovely flowers, and fruits and sun-kissed air!

Since Helsinki encountered some rain last weekend, I started to plan ahead for future celebrations. I feel that the rain sometimes is nature's way of telling us to calm down. It's calming to watch the rain outside, and while doing that, it's fun to plan ahead for parties!

As I've told you in earlier blog posts, I have been making some plans for the next couple of years. Since it's been three years now from my graduation, this year I had the first chance to apply for the master degree program in tourism, and I got in! This means that for the next two years, I'll study beside working. How exciting!

Something else that is exciting, is the upcoming magical annual celebration we have here in Finland - Midsummer that is, which this year is set on Friday-Saturday. This year I'll celebrate it abroad with some friends! Of course, I'll fill you in on it in later blog posts. For now I'll tell you that this all asks for some serious party outfit planning to do, and I thought this editorial named Alice + Olivia Resort 2014 by Daniel P Dykes that I found on Fashionising was perfect for just that!

For this year's summery celebrations, hats are a must! I love them in all forms and colors - I've recently noticed that I'm widely fond of them. I also love the dark blue midi skirt on the upper left. Air-light chiffon is definitely one of my favorite materials right now!

Summertime is a time for floral bloom and I plan to spend Midsummer with a floral headband. Floral details in the hair, on dresses, and bags can never go wrong, if you ask me.

Stripes are for sure one of my soft spots, I can't get enough of them. Narrow or thick, they're so my thing.

Red is not usually a summery color that I go for, but with red lipstick, a red dress/skirt is so chic!

My favorite summery color is like I've mentioned many times before, white and shades of nude. All of these outfits, set against rose petals, are dreamy. These two last ones make me think of  fairies, and that is a perfect look for Midsummer, which is filled with traditions and beliefs!

I wish you all a magical Midsummer! Today we already had 21 degrees, so the direction is right! Let's celebrate it like the Moomins do!

What's your opinion?

  1. congrats, Elisabeth, and good luck with your studies! I'm sure you'll be successful! oh and I'm already looking forward to seeing and reading your posts about Pärnu ;) it's always so interesting to know what foreign people think of my country. do visit the thrift stores in Pärnu if you can!
when it comes to Midsummer I have no idea what we will do then. a fancy fair will take place not very war from my home town and we have talked about visiting that but we'll see what actually happens. there is so much to do! haha that's also the reason why I haven't blogged for such a long time. now I have to write about my birthday and our trip to Helsinki :)
