Trend alert: the Jazz Age

Helsinki, 7 degrees

There are only diamonds in the whole world, diamonds and perhaps the shabby gift of disillusion.

This lazy Sunday I find myself daydreaming of no other than The Great Gatsby. As the release date of this movie inches closer-and-closer, my excitement over the 20s trend seems to get higher and higher. I've also finally come across the 3rd season of Downtown Abbey, which happens to be set in the same glorious decade. Inspired by the Jazz Age, I've put together a collage of accessories that fit the 20s trend and I'll introduce two purchases I've recently made.

To get you into the right set of mind, I wanted to add a video that can function as background music to this blog post.

Now, with the right music to take you into the wonderful world of the 20s, you can truly appreciate these accessories that I've found on Marie Claire. We can see it's all about light colors, with both golden and silver highlights. I love the shade of nude, but my favorite feature about this trend are the stunning headbands! What do you like the best?

Naturally my recent purchases are therefore headbands that I've found on Etsy. One of them comes from Israel, and the other one is from the States.

The black and gold one always a classic chic! This headband will not only hold my hair but will add a funky look to my appearance! Thank you Studio Lana!

The white one is a casual, white lace headband that can either be worn on the forehead for the bohemian "halo" style, or higher in the hair for a more traditional style. This dainty headband is the perfect go-to spring and summer accessory! Thank you Alice in Bloom!

I'm in love with both of them! Here are some of the looks I tried with a coral top from Mango. I'm definitely going to try these this spring! I'm waiting for a 20s theme party!

I've only been to one masquerade party dressed according to the 20s, and that was back in 2010. I've kept the mint dress flapper dress from H&M, because I just think it's divine.

Has the 20s trend hit you already? Do TV series or movies affect your way of clothing?

What's your opinion?

  7. to be honest I'm not amazed by this era but I know many girls are and I have nothing against looking at those shiny glittery pieces. the collage you created is really gorgeous and I like pretty much everything from your selection. but I still think films and shows don't affect the way I dress. I haven't found this perfect show yet and I doubt I will since my taste can change in a second :P
anyway, I will answer your questions now:
    1. I wrote about my job here, http://maikeniblogi.blogspot.com/2012/03/questions-answers-part-three-oriflame.html and there's also a link to another post.
    2. I haven't visited museum's virtual tour and I also haven't visited any art museums in Helsinki :P maybe because I'm not the biggest fan of paintings.. I like photos better :)
    3. "Talko" is the right word, I think. it's "Teeme ära" (let's do it) in Estonian.
