Antlers

Helsinki, 21 degrees

Never judge a reindeer from close by when you got it from a rich man because you may find that some of the antlers are missing.

Yet another beautiful day in Helsinki! Today felt like the first true summer day so I put on my sandals for the first time this year! There is a special feeling about wearing sandals, somehow at least I feel liberated once I can see my toes, haha! How about you, have you dared to wear sandals already? I wanted to dedicate this blog post to showing off my dressing table in our bedroom since I've recently put a lot of work into making it look and work as I want. I've been fascinated with the idea of having antlers above it, and so when I found some on Etsy, I didn't hesitate for one second - I got them immediately! Have a look at the result!

My dressing table has originally been dark brown, but I decided about a year ago to turn into white so I re-painted the whole table, which is actually a dresser from Ikea. The baroque style mirror I bought on the Finnish equivalent of Ebay, Huuto that is. You can see that the dresser is set in vicinity of the photo frame wall that I've described in detail in this blog post.

I placed the actual antlers above the dresser. On my dresser I've got my jewelry box, sea shell case, Eiffel tower (for rings), a painting I've inherited from my father of an orca, my necklace stand and earring stand. The earring stand is a DIY that you read more about in this blog post.

Lately I've been inspired by interior design blogs and liked the idea of trying out a cake platter as a jewelry stand. Since I've recently found one at a flea market, I was dying to try it out. I must admit, I'm in love with the result! What do you think?

How have you organized your jewelry? Are antlers visible in your interior decorating?

What's your opinion?

  1. That is such a clever way to hang up your necklaces! And it looks fantastic!

  2. yeah, we do have antlers, at least three pairs and more to come in the future. but they're just decorations in our case.
anyway, I really loved that post A LOT. it's always super interesting to see how others keep their jewellery and maybe even get some good ideas. your system looks great by the way and actually I'm in the middle of creating my own system (I wish I had more time though). when I get it done one day I will definitely show it in my blog too. but still, such a great job, Elisabeth!
