Coral & mint

Helsinki, 15 degrees

It is almost impossible to watch a sunset and not dream. At sunset nature is painting for us... day after day... pictures of infinite beauty.

As the days become longer (right now we have a stunning 17 hours of daylight in Helsinki), it seems we've skipped spring and gone directly to summer! The summer season has definitely started in Helsinki, with the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship and other thrilling events taking place in the city. It feels bubbly and exciting, and everybody is talking about summer plans already. I can't believe Midsummer will be here in just a month, how is that possible? Time seems to fly right now! The city has become busy again after the long winter, and almost all my evenings are filled with summer season kick off parties and other kinds of program. Clothing wise there is nothing that says summer more than mixing two colors: coral and turquoise / mint that is! Resembling a beautiful summery sunset, these two colors have got under my skin!

The summer season is all about bright, feminine and fun choices of color. Coral, a combination of pink and orange, is such a happy color whereas I feel that mint or turquoise are cooling colors that even out coral's warmth and puts a great balance to any outfit. Here are some of the inspirational clothing and accessory collages of these colors that I found on Pinterest. Aren't they just dreamy?

This summer my interpretation of these colors has the form of a coral dress from SisterS Point, some coral colored ballerinas from H&M, and turquoise jewelry (necklaces) from Accessorize and Bijou Brigitte. The earrings I wore were vintage ones of my mother. I love this outfit, it's perfect for both the office and parties!

Do you share my crush for these colors? Have you already made some plans for the summer?

What's your opinion?

  1. to be honest in my eyes mint is a regular colour like many others are (green, blue..) and I don't own too many mint items but a few - yes. I think pretty much every colour can be beautiful when it's worn right :) by the way, your dress and flats look totally orange to me and I looove orange! oh and what a cool necklace that is!
when it comes to summer plans I don't have any.. yet. I still have to work for at least a month before my vacation so I'm not going to create premature plans and hopes ;)
