Yellow fever

The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most.

My yellow fever keeps on getting worse! It started out with being inspired by yellow clothing, but now it's taking over our home as well. Even though we started out by deciding that in this home we would use only a limited amount of colors (main colors being black and white) since we wanted to create a harmonious home, I don't think there is anything wrong with adding some colors according to some annual celebrations. Our Christmas was silver-colored, and the upcoming Easter will be yellow. This spring I long for some color energy, and what better color is there to give me some of that than yellow? After all, people say that yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow will advance from surrounding colors and instill optimism and energy, as well as spark creative thoughts.

Even though I like these interior looks that I found on Pinterest and Stylizimo, I'm not sure if I would dare to invest this much in the yellow interior since I plan to include it in our home only for a limited amount of time, maybe a month or so. Pillowcases maybe next year...but this year I've approached the color in a simpler way by adding yellow flowers (narcissuses), candles, napkins, decorative eggs, little chicks, glassware in the form of a chicken and not to forget - chocolate eggs to our home! I bought most of them at Hemtex and our local grocery store.

And I must say, it's a delight for the eye to come home right now. The yellow color is a true energy charger, and that is exactly what I want our home to be right now! I have a lot of exciting things to look forward to during the forthcoming week so I need all the energy I can get! I hope you get a great start to your week!

  2. I like yellow.. our toilet room is partly in yellow'ish shades btw. and partly orange and dark red. I also like yellow clothes during summer because yellow looks great next to tanned skin. your Easter decorations are truly cute and I think I will take out mine maybe next weekend. oh and I should buy some Kinder "eggs" just for fun :)
btw, your question concerning dogs.. I didn't actually have to convince my fiance.. he has always loved dogs and I have always loved dogs and we have both had dogs before we got together. another reason was the fact he works away from our house/town (usually at least 50 km away) and don't come home every day. so when I'm with Elvis then it's so much better than completely alone, you know. we have had our tough times when Elvis was a puppy (he destroyed our kitchen floor twice I think.. but at the same time it was a very old and ugly floor so we look back at it like a necessary change now :)

  4. Your yellow easter decorations look nice! It brings right away some colours. Yellow is surely a great addition to black and white. You can also buy a few small accessories like pillows and candles and change the colours from time to time. :)
