Twisted top knot

Helsinki, -6 degrees

Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus.

Besides being busy in terms of work, January has also richly supplied sources of inspiration! I thought I would introduce something new to my blog thanks to the new year. I've decided to once a month realize a so-called inspiration or mood board. Instead of introducing it before each month, I would like to present it in the middle of the month when I know what has inspired me just that month. What do you think of this idea? In this mood board, I have combined fashion, interior and hair related things that have inspired me this month. I will present all of these things in this and other blog posts.

The hairdo that has inspired me the most this month I spotted on Marie Claire: the Twisted Top Knot. It got its fame when one of my favorite actresses, Diane Kruger, made an appearance with it. Here follows an easy tutorial that showcases how to create this amazing hairdo.

Have you tried it?

Another source of inspiration, this month has been Taylor Swift. I have admired her style for some time now, but when I saw her outfit at People's Choice Awards, I was yet again amazed. I thought the outfit was both daring and stylish. I especially liked her hairdo since I'm looking for ideas for my upcoming hair style at my sis' wedding in February.

Like many other bloggers, I've been inspired by Marion Cotillard and her stunning red carpet look at the Critics Choice Awards 2013. Even though she wasn't wearing a gown, Marion Cotillard stunned in a floral Zuhair Murad dress. She stole the spotlight in this dreamy shin-length dress and cut-out Jimmy Choos. I love the embroidery!

Concerning the other sources of inspiration, you'll have to read about them in my upcoming blog post...

What has inspired you lately?

What's your opinion?

  1. I definitely like those buns but the longer my hair grows the harder it is to wear a high bun because my hair weighs quite a lot and makes my head hurt when I have worn the bun for like several hours. maybe it's just me, I don't know but unfortunately it's the truth, hehe.
anyway, what has inspired me? maybe different purple shades and bold patterns that remind me of spring (which I'm already waiting for like crazy!).
definitely a great idea for new posts btw!
