Christmas 2012

Helsinki, -10 degrees

We’re walking in the air - we’re floating in the moonlit sky - the people far below are sleeping as we fly.

Even though this year's Christmas holidays have offered five days off work, this felt like the first genuine day off since the other ones were spent preparing for Christmas. As last year, I spent Christmas Eve at my mom's in a traditional way and Christmas Day at my boyfriend's family house in Sipoo, some 40 minutes outside of Helsinki. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays since it stands for togetherness. However, I was happy to spend today alone with my boy, just the two of us. The best way to digest all the delicious food we had this wonderful Christmas is to go for walks, so today we spent several hours outside enjoying snowy Helsinki.

Silly as it might be, in my family we always celebrate Christmas by wearing traditional Christmas hats. I thought I would present my new hairdo at the same time. I managed to squeeze in an appointment to my hairdresser Kaipaamo about a week before Christmas, and here's the result!

I aimed for a light version of the ombre hair styles you can see in the pictures here above. What do you think about the result? I love my new hair!

For Christmas Eve, I wore this red peplum dress by H&M. It was my first pemplum piece and I intend to wear it to work as well, maybe with a turtle neck shirt underneath.

I must brag about my boyfriend's Christmas presents this year because they were just perfect. Lucky me, I received two dresses and a hat! They were all from Asos.

In addition, I got a gift card to a beauty saloon, one of Vallila's bed linen sets, a goodie basket with Italian cheeses, wine, olives and nuts, and Naomi Cambell's Wild Pearl perfume from my family for Christmas! And lots of chocolate of course!

This was by far one of the best Christmases so far, I'm all relaxed and set for going back to work tomorrow! How were your holidays?

What's your opinion?

  1. of course I like your new hairdo! it's gorgeous! and to be honest I should aim for something similar because it's growing fast and the roots are a bit darker anyway. I guess next year I will make that move and visit a hairdresser (finally).
anyway, all of your dresses are beautiful and red really suits you. oh and those sweets! I remember I used to LOVE those but haven't seen them in Estonian stores anymore.. when it comes to my Christmas then I'm going to try to make a post as soon as possible. I even gathered the photos and will hopefully start working on it tomorrow :)

  5. Ihania joulukuvia!

Onnellista uuden vuoden odotusta!
