The Iron Maiden

Helsinki, 12 degrees

One life is all we have and we live it as we believe in living it. But to sacrifice what you are and to live without belief, that is a fate more terrible than dying.

Even though I've had quite a dynamic work description this whole year, and I've kind of already got used to living in unconsciousness, lately it seems like my whole office is experiencing the same kind of adrift since we're undergoing an organizational change. This causes each and everyone one of us to stop and think about what we actually want to do with our lives in a professional sense. I appreciate all the wonderful support I've got from home, since at times it has felt like I've been going around with an armor. I saw this stunning editorial on Fashionising called "The Iron Maiden" and thought it described my state of mind surprisingly well. There is something so Jean D'Arc about this model named Rachael Hood. Don't you think?

Who is your female idol when it comes to strength of mind?

What's your opinion?

  1. I actually haven't even thought about that, here in SA we have so many inspiring woman who have made a difference in our country. Great editorial, its nice to see something with a bit of costumery. Hope all gets sorted out on a working level :)

  2. These photos are breath taking and inspiring! This does remind me of Joan of arc. Lovely post! The picture where she is wearing braids with the crown is my favorite!

  3. she is a bit softer, I think but almost like the actual Jean. I don't have any idols though. I just feel like I don't need to follow someone. doing your own thing is the best. it can be hard at times but challenges are good. do you have any idols in life?
by the way, about international payments.. the thing is I don't even have a credit card. it's pretty good because I can save money that way, haha. and the jewellery you were talking about.. we don't have H&M in Estonia (yet) so unfortunately I can't get anything from there right now. should go to Latvia or Finland to visit the store but both are far enough.
ps. I finally did something with the "About Me" section!

    1. I don't think you need to follow an idol but it is someone you look up to. Maybe Audrey as she followed her own path and did good. And the Dalai Lama. Actually I appreciate all people with a strong personality and will.
Oh is the credit card thing a conscious choice?
H&M will be there, don't worry, but in the meantime you can visit H&M in Helsinki :)

  4. Samaa mieltä tuosta Jeanne D'Arc vertauksesta. Kauniita kuvia & stailaus.. Erityisesti hieman sotkuinen tukka, ihana ♥
    Voimia sinne, mielenvoimaa.
(voi kun suomalaiset sanat kuulostaa tyhmiltä sen jälkeen kun on lukenut jotain noin kauniisti kirjoitettua englanniksi. Well, I wish you strength. Strength of mind. :,) ♥
