It is just as disastrous to have the wrong accessories in your room as it is to wear sport shoes with an evening dress.

Helsinki, 16 degrees

This weekend has been pleasantly sunny here in Helsinki - perfect for some fair and exhibition visits! This Saturday I visited one of the top 5 fairs in Finland called Habitare which is concentrated on furniture, interior decoration and design. I was able to convince my better half to join me so we spent a great day going through the interesting novelties that were presented at the fair! Join me in these pictures and see some of the specialties Helsinki's Habitare had to offer this year.

I especially liked the lamps that were on display. I love all kind of cloud resembling lamps.

I thought it was funny that I found a section where Lombardian design was presented. I thought it was adorable that the car couch seat that you see in this photo had the sign "do not seat". One can only speculate if it was meant to be written in that way, or if it was a mistake..

I loved how the Museum of Finnish Architecture had brought tree trunks into the exhibition and made them a part of their stand!

The playful figures of Finnish designer Eero Aarnio caught everybody's attention!

Vallila's textiles made me crazy with their frisky colors!

Again, some unique and stunning lamps! Finnish Secto Design's Aspiro lamps were just delightful! Secto Design lamp shades are handmade of Finnish birch by highly skilled craftsmen.

I also loved these lamps, especially the classic Block lamp by Finnish Harri Koskinen.

The stand called Trash Hotel also presented some interesting design, all made of recycled materials. I fell in love with the old suitcases, I've always dreamed about having one of those and filling it with travel memories.

These rocking chair were super cute I thought. It was fun to see all the ways one can decorate such a classic design item.

Last but not least, a girl's best friend - some crystal chandeliers by Grönlund! A girl can dream, right?

Do you ever search for interior inspiration - where in that case?

What's your opinion?

  3. I remember that when I was a little girl I always used to visit similar exhibitions in Tallinn. it was like our family's "thing". but now I haven't visited any of those though my parents have even visited some in Finland.
when it comes to decorating my own house I don't actually search for inspiration. it comes from my own head and I may have seen it somewhere or just made it up by myself. randomly seeing posts like that one definitely helps. for an example I LOOOVE the car shape couch! and those Vallila goodies. great post overall! I like simple reviews like that.
