Nostalgia

Helsinki, 10 degrees

Nostalgia is like a grammar lesson: You find the present tense and the past perfect.

Besides all the things I've mentioned in earlier posts, my holidays are also all about dreaming. I came across this web shop called Shabby Apple and started dreaming. It took me back to old times, times that I maybe fashionwise would have liked to experience.

As the wesbite states:

"We started Shabby Apple because we saw a need in women’s fashion that was not being met. A need to make women feel feminine and beautiful for what they wear, not what they bare. We offer flirty, stylish dresses a woman can wear just as comfortably in the office, at a family dinner, or on a date. Shabby Apple is a fashion company for women, by women, and of women."

All the collections have fun names with a lot of thought to them.

My favorite dress out of the collection called Twin Palms is this one named One for my baby: green with a collar and white polka dots!

This violet dress on the other hand takes us back to Alice in Wonderland as the collection is called Mad Hatter, hehe. Here I'm in love with the lace and the floral decorations on the hat!

The collection Green Leaf is concentrated on the 20's, oh how magnificent dresses there were at those times! I love the heardwear, the pearls and the waist band..

..but I think it comes as no surprise that I'm mad about sailor themed dresses, here found in the collection Set Sail, I have gone on about them on my blog for a long time now...

Like an arrow leading straight to my heart is the collection called Roamin Holiday! Seeing is one of my one true loves is Italy, this is definately a collection meant for me! Taking us back to the atmosphere of Roman Holiday, one of the most inspiring movies I've seen, it's just perfect.

The collection Up and Away was also one that truly catched my eye. These outfits take my thoughts back to Pearl Harbor times, quite like the bar I visited last week. If I would have known about this webshop before, I would have worn a similar dress when going there! Who can resist these tomcats?

I think all girls have dreamed about having one of these outfits! Driving in a convertible with a scarf wrapped around one's head and feeling the wind blowing through one's hair, oh that would be easy living! Definitely a must do during this holiday, haha! This outfit was found in the collection called 65.

I also love the car outfit called Miles from the collection All that Jazz. So current still today!

I still haven't made my mind up about what to get from Shabby Apple, ideas? It's difficult to choose merely one outfit out of these beauties!

But I can just imagine how it would feel to walk around the Helsinkian streets with one of these outfits, the fabric being filled with a story. That's what people don't always understand. Clothing is so much more than just fabric, it's a feeling as well. And you know me, I'm driven by emotions!

How do you feel about nostalgic clothing?

What's your opinion?
