Know thyself, or at least keep renewing the acquaintance.

Helsinki, 18 degrees

I promised to fill you in on my relaxing weekend at our summer cottage close by to Turku. Our summer cottage is located in Pargas, about 2½ hours from Helsinki by car. Pargas (Parainen in Finnish) is the only town in Finland surrounded by water on all sides.

This vigorous, idyllic town in the archipelago is known particularly for its lime works and Genuine Island Ginger Biscuits. Together with neighboring towns Nagu, Houtskär, Korpo and Iniö the “largest” archipelago town in the world has become reality. These five municipalities in Finland became one in 1.1.2009. With more than 10 000 islands and islets outspread over 5 500 square kilometres, of which 80 per cent is water, the beautiful archipelago sea is a pearl for the inhabitants, summer guests and tourists.

For me it's a place to relax, and a place filled with childhood memories. As a child, I used to spend several months here summertime so I feel I have a strong connection to our summer cottage. I always discover new things about myself when going there.

Here my heart is at ease. Do you have a place that makes you feel relaxed and comfortable?

What's your opinion?
