Raspberry frost

Helsinki, -9 degrees

Last week I stumbled upon a new blog called Blog For Photos that shows edited photos of Helsinki, and of course it was of my liking, a Helsinki fanatic as I am. What do you think about these photos? Isn't my city stunning?

Otherwise I've spent this frosty Sunday trying out a new gym with my sister who by the way just got engaged last Thursday! Hurrah for her!

I also went to the post office to send off some clothes and items that I'd sold on Internet. I met up with my efficient boyfriend in the city center who actually worked a bit this weekend and we walked home together challenging the cold. Today is also the presidential election day here in Finland, so some electors were visible in the center. Good, I think everyone should vote! I voted already last Sunday. This evening we'll know who'll be the next president of the republic of Finland, how exciting!

My plan for the rest of the evening is to hide away from the cold in our cosy home, and maybe have a look at some work related things if I find the energy. Lately I've been trying not to think too much about work at home. I have to get used to having weekends off, and spare time should be just that - free time!

I will also make sure to watch the presidential election results tonight. In addition, today we have been celebrating a national holiday, Runeberg's Day that is, which include special delicious tarts. This tart was born back in the 1840's when it was made for our national poet J.L. Runberg. According to stories told, he used to enjoy a similar tart on a daily basis for breakfast! I think that sounds luxurious! His wife invented this pastry, made out of almonds, rum, raspberry jam and a suger ring on top, for him! Yummy! How romantic! I of course jumped the gun and had some already last weekend at my mom's place. What is your favorite pastry?
