November inspiration: sailor styles, LBDs, and eyewear

Helsinki, 7 degrees

An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.

Due to a fever wave I've been stuck in bed and I haven't been able to write on my blog during the last couple of days. I apologize for that. But as they say, "there is calm after the storm" so let's hope I'll start feeling better again.

Last time I wrote, I told you have disappointed I was on this month's magazines. But then, one day later came the Elle Finland and proved me wrong. Once again this month, it was the best Finnish fashion magazine.

I loved the page about December's must haves: jackets, turtleneck shirts and loafers. I've always thought that loafers have to be flat shoes, but this taught me otherwise!

I have a Gina Tricot sailor type of jacket, but I've been thinking about if I should sell it and buy another since I'm not thrilled about the ruffles it has underneath its waist. What do you think? I don't know if I more in the mood of a classic look with a straight bottom.

Due to the fact that I actually have reading glasses that I use all the time I sit in front of a computer, I'm always interested in eyewear trends as well. Ever since a cat scratched my left eye in 2002, I've had the glasses. I must admit that I'm a lazy glass wearer. I've had my Chanel glasses for years but since my eyesight hasn't noticeable got worse, I've been satisfied with them. Now I noticed that I see glasses everywhere, which usually is a clear sign of me wanting new ones. Let's see, maybe after Christmas. The Finnish top model Saimi Hoyer has now launched a new eyewear collection for Lensway. You can have a sneak peek of the collection on the video clip.

What do you think?

In December, I'm also looking out for a little black dress. I've been inspired by Finnish blogs like Strictly Style to find just the perfect kind of dress that can be put to use in many occasions. I don't know if I could go for a dress as classic as the writer of that blog, but I'm definitely hunting for the right dress. She found her in Topshop, do you have any other hints to give me?

Last but not least, Elle Finland is offering a previewing of the movie "New Year's Eve" on the 9th of December for its readers and I was lucky enough to win two tickets to see the movie - yey! It seems like a true feel good movie!

I'm definitely ready to kiss the last year, this year, goodbye!

What's your opinion?

  1. I want to see New Years Eve movie, especially because of Ashton :D... And I´m looking for little black dress too, but I can´t find the right ones, but still hope that I´ll find them :)...
